Psychological First Aid and Resilience for Families, Friends & Neighbors

Coping in Today’s World - Neighbor to Neighbor

A 4-hour modular curriculum teaches participants how to build their own resilience— the ability to recover quickly after difficult times.

  • The course enables families, friends, and neighbors to:
  • Strengthen their own emotional resilience and that of their children.
  • Recognize stress in adults and children, and how people react to it.
  • Provide immediate support and introduce coping skills to members of their families, friends, neighbors and others by using psychological first aid (PFA).
  • Provide better emotional support for one another in times of stress, crisis, and disaster.
  • Guidance on how and when to seek additional support and community resources
  • Taught by mental health professionals (Disaster Mental Health)

Audience

  • Community members who are interested in building psychological/emotional resilience – the ability to adaptively bounce back from challenges or adversity.
  • Communities in the disaster preparedness or recovery phases are particularly receptive target audiences.
